Fulham have had a second successive Premier League match postponed after the latest round of coronavirus testing returned more positive results. (More Football News)
The Premier League postponed Fulham's clash with Tottenham, much to the frustration of Jose Mourinho, a matter of hours before kick-off on Wednesday after several members of Scott Parker's squad tested positive for the virus.
Parker – who himself has had to self-isolate recently – confirmed on Friday that he was preparing as normal for Sunday's planned away game with Burnley even though he had several players missing.
However, the trip to Turf Moor has now been called off to add further disruption to the Premier League season, with organisers having insisted the competition will continue despite rising rates of infection around the United Kingdom and talk of a possible 'circuit breaker' suspension of competitive football in England.
With most regions of the country under strict lockdown measures, the Premier League confirmed 18 players or staff members had tested positive this week.
In a statement on Saturday, Fulham said: 'Following further new positive results returned from the most recent COVID-19 tests, the club can confirm that this Sunday's away fixture at Burnley has been postponed after discussions with the Premier League and advice from medical teams.
'Those who tested positive are self-isolating in line with UK Government and Premier League guidance.
'The welfare of our players, staff and their families continue to be of paramount importance, and we wish those who have tested positive a safe and speedy recovery.'
It is the fourth Premier League match to have been postponed this season due to coronavirus infections. Early in December, Newcastle United and Aston Villa had their match called off, while on Monday, Manchester City requested that their clash with Everton be pushed back after a further three players tested positive.
Pep Guardiola's team were able to return to training, however, after recording no further positive cases, and their game with Chelsea on Sunday is set to go ahead.

Manchester United opened up a three-point lead at the top of the Premier League standings with a 1-0 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor on Tuesday evening.
There were two alterations to the United team. Nemanja Matic and Edinson Cavani were named in the starting line-up, while Scott McTominay and Fred dropped to the bench.
Straight from the kick off, Matt Lowton launched a long pass forward which Harvey Barnes was able to nod down. Robbie Brady latched onto the loose ball and fired over the bar from the edge of the box.
Luke Shaw found a yard of space down the left flank in the 17th minute and drove a low cross into the box. Bruno Fernandes met the delivery following Martial’s clever dummy, and fired a first-time shot straight at Pope.
Burnley lost the ball deep inside their own half in the 25th minute following a throw-in. Matic played a first-time pass into the path of Martial, who curled a left-footed strike fractionally wide of Pope’s far post from the edge of the penalty area.
Martial went for the spectacular on the stroke of half-time and somehow Pope tipped it over the bar. The Frenchman curled a well-struck effort from range towards the top-right corner, which the Burnley goalkeeper scrambled across to steer behind for a corner.
In the 52nd minute, Pogba drove the visitors up the field with a powerful run, before laying it off to Fernandes. The Portuguese midfielder steered the play out to the left for Martial, and somehow Cavani could get enough contact on the Frenchman’s cross, and Pope gathered it from close range.
Pogba broke the deadlock in the 71st minute. After starting the move, the Frenchman drove towards the edge of the box to meet Rashford’s cross from the right. On the volley, Pogba lashed the ball goalwards, it deflected off Lowton, and flew beyond Pope.
Some clever link-up play on the edge of the hosts’ penalty area saw Pogba thread a pass through for Martial. The Frenchman took one too many touches before going for goal, allowing Mee to get across and make a vital block.
James Tarkowski had a glorious chance to snatch a point for the Clarets in the first minute of stoppage time. After numerous ricochets in and around the United box following McNeil’s cross from the left, the loose ball fell to Tarkowski inches away from goal, although he did not meet it cleanly and tamely knocked his effort into the floor.
